A WEEKEND OF "GREEK CENTAURS"
Our last
group archery training during the past weekend, showed us one thing. After the "EOCHA
2013" Games, the number of active members of our team is increasing rapidly and
it won’t be long until this ancient mountain Hymettus will be too small for us!
We don’t
only train to be better archers but we also train our horses to be familiar
with the bow. Our leader Harpalycus begun training two new horses for
horseback archery. The first one was immediately feeling as if he had done it
since he was born. The second one was having trouble moving from both sides. So
he didn’t try to teach him the bow but to help him develop all the skills he
have.
Second
lesson for Dimitra, Chara’s student and as you can see she rides with a
blindfold in her eyes and performs movement exercises. She won’t be long until
she rides and gallops safely.
Vasileios
is having great time riding and performs amazingly despite the three lessons he
has. That kind of people show us that great Greeks still exist despite the
decay our great country has fallen.
Anthony
rides and shoots with a blindfold. That exercise is to make the rider sit
“deeper” on the horse ignoring the target. But archery is about feeling and as
you can see from ten meters the results were not bad at all.
Later on,
Anthony despite being amateur he was instructed to teach another new member,
Danae, the same exercises. Teaching one another is what makes a member,
especially an amateur, to be better and to see what teaching others require in
order to be done perfectly and safely.
Our more
advanced Amazones were training one another out in the fields of our mountain
with some more difficult, war like, exercises.
Of course
our members who participated at "EOCHA 2013" don’t stop training. Our co-leader
Chara, trains in archery by lying on the dirt, to perform some bizarre
exercises on bow and arrow balance.
Meanwhile
the founder of our team trains a few month cob which he had the honor to hug
when he was newborn. Aristotelis insists in what he always says. “The greatest
reward for a man is a simple touch by a Horse”. And we all agree with him.
Besides
archers and horsemen we are also artists. So Alexander designed and created a
ring and a pendant from silver with our team’s insignia which he sells at a
very affordable price.
Traditional
archery with increasing participating members, many hours at the riding fields
training us and the horses, many hours helping friends with horses and stables
and enriching our shells with jewelry
and leather crafts.
And "Greek Centaurs" don't work only in Athens ! Our branch in Cyprus is hardly working
since last summer, training new Cypriot Horseback Archers. In Corfu island, as well, our
members don’t stop to improve their abilities, while two new branches are under
planning in two, more, main cities of Greece after the demand of locals .
Most of all safe and continuous progress for all of
us , made this weekend absolutely fruitful. And now, Hymettus mount seems as a
small hill for "Greek Centaurs".
